Protest Held Against Water Shortage in Thatta

Hundreds of residents staged a protest in front of the Irrigation Department’s engineer office in the Mirpur Sakro subdivision of Thatta on Thursday against the water shortage.

The protesters chanted slogans over the failure to supply water. The protest was held today in front of the Irrigation Office in Mirpur Sakro, led by Ameen Kalmaty, Rashid Hadeo, Abdul Rahim Malkani, Jabbar Channa, Wali Muhammad Channa, Allah Bakhsh, and others. The protesters stated that there has been a severe water shortage in the area for the past three months.

The protest leaders said that due to the water shortage, their crops have been destroyed, people are dying of thirst, and there is no water available for drinking. They mentioned that this issue occurs every year and the irrigation administration is not willing to cooperate.

The protesters demanded that the government provide water as soon as possible, otherwise their protest would continue. They emphasized that the difficulties in the area should be resolved by ensuring the supply of water.
