Islamabad’s senior police officials have been instructed to escalate efforts against criminal gangs, ensure immediate arrests of absconding members, and prioritise the protection of citizens” lives and assets, following a high-level review of the capital”s crime situation.
The Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, Muhammad Jawad Tariq, chaired a crucial assembly with officers from the Saddar zone to assess the prevailing crime landscape and strategic operational plans, according to a police report today.
Attendees included SP Saddar zone Kazim Naqvi, along with Sub-Divisional Police Officers (SDPOs) and Station House Officers (SHOs) from the area. During deliberations, the DIG issued explicit mandates for law enforcement personnel to compile data on individuals implicated in property-related offences and to execute their apprehension promptly.
Further instructions included maintaining stringent oversight on previously released individuals with records of property crime, ensuring their immediate re-arrest if they commit fresh infractions. Officers were also directed to finalise all ongoing investigations on merit, ensuring the timely submission of charge sheets to appropriate courts.
Mr. Tariq further stressed the importance of detaining those responsible for vehicle and motorcycle thefts. He also called for maximum arrests of all designated absconders.
He reiterated that safeguarding the well-being and possessions of residents remains the paramount objective, adding that no dereliction of duty in this respect would be tolerated.
