The Female Campus of the International Islamic University Islamabad recently hosted a significant Palestine Solidarity Walk, an event that underscored the urgent call for justice and peace in the region. Spearheaded by Prof. Dr. Amna Mehmood, the initiative was a collaborative effort between the Directorate of Student Affairs and the Faculty of Usuluddin.
Commencing at the entrance of the Fatima Block, the procession concluded at the Main Gate, drawing participation from faculty, administrative staff, and students who bore Palestinian flags and placards with messages advocating for liberation and justice. The program kicked off with a recitation from the Holy Qur’an, setting a solemn tone for the event.
Key figures, including Prof. Dr. Amna Mehmood, addressed the crowd, stressing the pivotal role of educational institutions in fostering human rights advocacy. Insights were also shared by Dr. Kiran Kayani on media’s role in Palestine’s defense, while Dr. Taimiyah Sabiha spoke about the ethical obligations of Muslims towards the First Qibla. A compelling speech by a student highlighted the determination of Muslim women to oppose tyranny. Additionally, Dr. Rukhsana Tariq, Students’ Advisor, reiterated the university’s unwavering support for Palestine and the necessity of confronting injustice.
The gathering concluded with a heartfelt prayer for Palestinians, led by Dr. Fouzia Saeed. Participants, brandishing banners and chanting slogans, called upon the Muslim community to defend Al-Aqsa. The event wrapped up with prayers and a united appeal for ongoing awareness and support for the Palestinian cause.
