Bugti reviews progress of Quetta Development Project

A high-level meeting chaired by Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti today reviewed the progress of the Quetta Development Project and made several important decisions. The meeting announced measures to promote traffic management, education, and tree plantation for the city’s development.

Provincial Minister Bakht Muhammad Kakar, Principal Secretary Babar Khan, Commissioner Quetta Division Hamza Shafqat, and other senior officials attended the meeting. The Chief Minister approved designating central Quetta as “Downtown,” where a limited number of modern electric cars will replace rickshaws. These cars will include special “pink cars” for women.

Expressing dissatisfaction over violations of the Wall Chalking Act, the Chief Minister instructed the issuance of legal notices to political parties and advertising companies. He stated that indiscriminate action would be taken against any organization, including ruling parties, that violates the law.

To advance the education sector, inactive government schools are to be activated under the Balochistan Education Endowment Fund. For promoting tree plantation, the Forestry Department was instructed to prepare a comprehensive plan.

During the briefing, the Commissioner of Quetta informed that more than 1,500 professional beggars have been detained in the ongoing campaign against them. In response to traffic disruptions caused by cattle on city roads, seven bulls have been handed over to welfare organizations.

The Chief Minister expressed dissatisfaction over the slow pace of public interest projects in the meeting and directed all departments to ensure transparency and speed in projects to transform Quetta into a modern, clean, and organized city.
