Pakistani Delegation in UK Raises Alarms Over Indian Aggression

A high-level parliamentary delegation from Pakistan, led by former Foreign Minister and Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party, delivered a briefing to the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Pakistan at Westminster Palace.

The meeting, hosted by Yasmin Qureshi MP, Chair of the APPG on Pakistan, brought together cross-party British parliamentarians to discuss the deteriorating regional security situation due to alleged Indian hostility following the Pahalgam incident.

In a detailed address, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari outlined the ramifications of what he termed as unjustified Indian aggression and violations of Pakistan’s sovereignty. He emphatically dismissed the accusations made by India, criticizing the lack of credible investigation and verifiable evidence. Bilawal warned that India”s attacks on civilian areas and its suspension of the Indus Water Treaty could pose severe threats to regional and global peace.

Adding to the discussion, Musadik Malik, Minister for Climate Change and Environmental Coordination, highlighted the environmental and economic dangers posed by India’s actions. He pointed out the risks to Pakistan’s food security and the survival of its 240 million citizens, underscoring the country’s dependence on agriculture.

The delegation stressed that Pakistan’s response to the situation had been measured and responsible, aligning with international law, including the right to self-defense under Article 51 of the United Nations Charter. They reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to restraint and called for the revival of the Indus Water Treaty, urging for a composite dialogue between Pakistan and India to resolve all outstanding issues, especially the Jammu and Kashmir dispute.

The meeting underscored the urgency of addressing these tensions, with Pakistan seeking international support to mitigate the crisis and restore peace in the region.
