A 53-year-old woman has given her 35-year-old brother a new lease on life by donating her kidney at Bolan Medical Complex (BMC). The recipient, from a financially disadvantaged family in Muslim Bagh Tehsil, had been undergoing dialysis for a year. Both siblings are reportedly doing well after the surgery.
The operation was made possible through funding from the Balochistan government’s health card initiative. This program provides free kidney transplants to residents, eliminating the need for costly treatment outside the province where expenses can be prohibitive.
This complex operation involved collaboration across multiple departments. The urology team included Dr. Hayat Kakar, Dr. Shaukat, Dr. Maqbool, Dr. Ahmadullah, Dr. Rashid, and Dr. Asfand.
Nephrology specialists included Dr. Fazal, Dr. Nadia, Dr. Habib, Dr. Hamidullah, and Dr. Sadiq. The anesthesia team consisted of Dr. Mola Bakhsh, Dr. Yahya Baloch, and their colleagues.
The radiology department collaborated with Professor Aijaz Baloch, Dr. Zahoor, Dr. Farzana, and their colleagues. Dr. Ghaffar Mamadokhail, Dr. Anwar, and their team participated from pathology.
