KP Govt’s Big Reform Decision: Underperforming Hospitals to be Outsourced

Nearly two dozen poorly performing hospitals in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province are being outsourced to private companies to improve healthcare facilities for the province’s residents. Health Advisor Ishrat Ali, while unveiling the plan, emphasized that this initiative will ensure free and quality medical facilities for the public.

In the initial phase, 24 medical centers (Category B, C, and D) will be targeted. Treatment in these facilities will remain free, and government-set rates will be followed. Ishrat Ali stressed that this is not privatization; ownership of the hospitals will remain with the government, with only their management being outsourced.

Existing government employees will retain their positions and continue their routine responsibilities. This initiative solely focuses on improving administrative efficiency and the overall patient experience. By leveraging private sector expertise, the government hopes these medical centers can better serve the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
