Public Health – Sindh Advisor Warns of Zero Tolerance for Negligence in Polio Campaign

The Sindh government has issued a stern warning against any lapses in the ongoing anti-polio drive, declaring that negligence will not be tolerated as the fight against the paralyzing virus is a ‘national duty.’ The firm stance was articulated by Gianchand Essrani, Advisor to the Chief Minister Sindh for the Rehabilitation Department, during a field visit.

According to report today, Essrani made the remarks while inspecting campaign activities at the Basic Health Unit (BHU) Sari in Taluka Thano Bula Khan, District Jamshoro. He meticulously reviewed the performance of vaccination teams and observed the procedure for administering polio drops to young children.

Reaffirming the provincial government’s commitment, the advisor emphasized that eliminating polio remains a paramount priority. He assured that the administration would continue to provide complete support to health teams in their mission to achieve a polio-free Sindh, stressing that comprehensive immunization coverage is essential.

During his visit, Mr. Essrani directed health officials to intensify their efforts by ensuring strict field monitoring and maintaining an uninterrupted supply of vaccines. He also called for the strengthening of community-level awareness campaigns to guarantee the success of the National Immunization Days (NID) drive.

The advisor lauded the frontline personnel, calling them the “real heroes” of the campaign. ‘Our field workers. despite harsh weather and difficult terrain, continue to reach every household to protect children from polio,’ he stated, adding, ‘The Sindh government deeply values their service and commitment.’ Coordinated efforts, he noted, are underway across the province to wipe out the disease once and for all.
