Gilani Urges Global Action on Kashmir, Cites Grave Human Rights Violations

Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani today urged the international community to intervene in the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, citing “grave human rights violations” in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) as a matter of serious concern for the global conscience.

According to a satement by Senate today, his impassioned plea was part of a message commemorating the 78th Foundation Day of Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Gilani paid glowing tribute to the Kashmiri people, their martyrs, and freedom fighters, stating the day serves as a potent reminder of their sacrifices and unwavering struggle for self-determination.

The Chairman articulated that the Foundation Day is not merely a historic occasion but also a reaffirmation of a pledge that the long freedom struggle will always be remembered. He emphasized that Pakistan will continue to extend its political, moral, and diplomatic support to the Kashmiri populace at every level.

Gilani urged the global community to play an effective role in securing a just and lasting resolution to the conflict in accordance with United Nations resolutions. He noted that such an outcome is essential for achieving durable peace and stability throughout South Asia.

Highlighting the resilience of the Kashmiri people, he added that their courage, determination, and sacrifices are living proof that the freedom movement cannot be suppressed through oppression or tyranny.

The Senate Chairman expressed hope that the day is not far when the “dawn of freedom will rise over Occupied Kashmir,” allowing its residents to breathe freely with their fundamental rights restored.

Reaffirming a unified stance, Gilani stated that the Parliament and the people of Pakistan stand shoulder to shoulder with their Kashmiri brethren. He assured that they will continue to raise their voice for Kashmiri rights at every international forum.
