Spotify Surpasses 700 Million User Milestone and Posts Record Profits

Audio streaming giant Spotify announced record profitability and a major expansion of its user base in its third-quarter 2025 earnings report, revealing an operating income of pound 582 million while its global listener count surpassed 713 million.

According to a statement today, the company reported that its total revenue rose by 12% year-over-year on a constant currency basis to pound 4.3 billion. This financial growth was supported by an 11% year-over-year increase in Monthly Active Users (MAUs), reaching 713 million.

The platform”s premium subscriber base also expanded by 12% to 281 million, while its gross margin improved to 31.6%, a 56 basis point increase from the previous year.

Daniel Ek, the Founder and CEO of Spotify, commented on the results, stating, ‘The business is healthy. We”re shipping faster than ever. And we have the tools we need – pricing, product innovation, operational leverage, and eventually the ads turnaround – to deliver both revenue growth and profit expansion.’

Ek further emphasized the company”s focus on user fundamentals: ‘It all comes back to user fundamentals and that”s where we are: 700 million users who keep coming back, engagement at all-time highs. We”re building Spotify for the long-term.’

The report attributed a portion of this continued engagement to the launch of new platform features during the third quarter. These updates included an enhanced free user tier, tools for playlist mixing, the introduction of lossless audio, a ChatGPT integration, and a messaging function.

Spotify has made the complete earnings release and a webcast of the question-and-answer session available on its official Investor Relations website for further details.
