The protest by the Sajag Shehri Ittehad for the completion of the construction of Nasirabad Taluka Hospital and the provision of doctors, medicines, and other basic health facilities at the Rural Health Center continued for the 20th consecutive day on Thursday, in which protesters accused elected representatives and the health department of inaugurating the incomplete hospital to hide alleged corruption in the project, which has been pending for fifteen years, and to protect the contractor.
Under the banner of the Sajag Shehri Ittehad, a demonstration was also held in Nonari Muhalla as part of the ongoing sit-in. The alliance is demanding the complete construction of the taluka hospital as well as the provision of doctors, medicines, and other essential medical services at the local rural health center.
Addressing the rally, alliance leaders, including President Muhammad Rafi Laghari and General Secretary Muhammad Tagar, lamented that the hospital’s foundation stone was laid a decade and a half ago but remains incomplete, causing severe hardship to residents. They said that instead of fulfilling their responsibility, the area’s MNA, MPA, and the health department have provided a “safe escape route to the contractor” by inaugurating the incomplete structure, which they termed a “great injustice to the citizens.”
The organizers stated that their movement is gaining momentum day by day, and various political, social, and welfare organizations are also raising their voices for the cause, which the alliance wholeheartedly welcomes. They made it clear that until the hospital is fully functional and proper health facilities are restored, their struggle will continue using “all democratic, constitutional, and public means.”
The demonstration was attended by several residents, including representatives from PTI’s Ikhtiar Ganwas, Naujawan Ittehad Nasirabad, Jhangi Wah Naujawan Ittehad, Odhana Muhalla Naujawan Ittehad, and Solangi Naujawan Ittehad.
