The district administration has urgently requested a helicopter from the provincial government and disaster management to control the fire in the forests of Ayubia Galiyat, which has now spread to the Ayubia National Park Pipeline Track and become a threat to nearby forests.

The request for aerial support comes as ground efforts to control the fire, which started on Saturday, are being led by the newly appointed District Emergency Officer Rescue 1122, Hafiz ur Rehman, who arrived from Abbottabad and is personally commanding the team throughout the night. Staff from the office of Assistant Commissioner Galiyat Tariq Khan, Donga Gali Police, and the Wildlife and Forest departments are also present on site.

The incident has raised questions about the timeliness of the initial response and whether earlier intervention could have prevented greater damage. In light of what is being termed a major national loss, a joint investigation by provincial and federal investigative agencies is being demanded.

This event highlights a recurring issue, as similar incidents reportedly cause extensive damage to the region’s lush forests and wildlife every year, emphasizing the need for effective control measures.
