Encounter between police and dacoits in Karachi’s Mehmoodabad, one dacoit killed, four injured including a police officer and citizens

An alleged dacoit was killed while four people, including a police head constable and two citizens, were injured following an intense exchange of fire between law enforcement agencies and suspected criminals in Mehmoodabad No. 3. The confrontation occurred while the accused were allegedly robbing local residents.

SSP East Zubair Nazir Sheikh confirmed that the exchange of fire began on Saturday when police confronted the alleged accused during a robbery. During the encounter, one accused was killed by a gunshot, while his accomplice was injured.

As a result of the crossfire, Head Constable Hammad and two civilian passersby were injured. All the injured and the body of the deceased accused were immediately transferred to the hospital for medical attention and legal formalities.

A spokesperson for the East Police stated that SSP Sheikh later visited the injured at Jinnah Hospital. On this occasion, he praised the injured officer’s courage and professional performance of his duties.

After the incident, authorities recovered illegal weapons and ammunition from the accused’s possession.

SSP Sheikh stated that legal proceedings have been initiated and a comprehensive investigation into the matter is underway.
