Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, today ordered a significant acceleration of operations against criminal syndicates and declared a comprehensive campaign for the “complete eradication” of drug trafficking in the federal capital, describing narcotics as a “serious menace.”
The directive was issued during a series of high-level meetings where the IGP conducted a thorough review of the city”s security situation. Discussions centred on enhancing crime prevention strategies, executing intelligence-led operations, and apprehending wanted and proclaimed offenders.
While addressing senior police officials, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi mandated that ongoing actions against criminal elements must be made more transparent. He strongly emphasised that the protection of the lives and property of citizens is paramount and must be ensured at all costs.
The police chief also called for the further strengthening of coordination among various law enforcement agencies to present a unified and more effective front against criminal activities.
Beyond operational matters, the IGP also scrutinised ongoing development projects within the Islamabad Police, initiatives for the welfare of personnel, and overall administrative affairs.
He instructed senior officers to ensure all departmental projects are completed within their specified timelines and meet prescribed standards. He also called for improvements to make welfare schemes more effective and to introduce administrative reforms to boost the force”s overall performance.
The meetings were attended by senior command, including DIG Islamabad Muhammad Jawad Tariq, AIG Special Branch Muhammad Sarfaraz Work, AIG Operations/Establishment Shoaib Masood, AIG Investigation/Development Syed Inayat Ali Shah, and SSP CTD Arslan Shahzaib, among other high-ranking officers.
