An alleged most-wanted extortionist was killed on Saturday after an armed encounter with the CIA’s Special Investigation Unit (SIU) in Karachi.
According to officials, the operation was launched after the SIU received credible information about the presence of suspects linked to organized extortion rackets in the city.
During the raid, an exchange of fire began when law enforcement personnel encountered the suspects. As a result of the shooting, one suspect was killed.
Officials recovered a pistol and a mobile phone from the possession of the deceased individual at the scene.
An investigation is underway to confirm the formal identification of the deceased suspect and to obtain details of his past criminal record.
The SIU has confirmed that further legal proceedings are being initiated in connection with this matter.
