Crime – Wildlife smuggling attempt foiled, dozens of rare ducks and deer meat recovered

Forestry and Wildlife Department officials on Sunday foiled an illegal smuggling operation and registered a First Information Report (FIR) against two individuals allegedly involved in the smuggling of rare birds and deer meat.

In a major crackdown on wildlife crime, the Forestry and Wildlife Department successfully recovered 44 bar-headed geese.

After a thorough examination, the department has confirmed that all waterfowl are healthy. On the direction of the Chief Minister of Punjab, a plan has been made to release them into their natural habitat next Wednesday.

The accused now face serious legal consequences, as a formal FIR has been registered against them. The crime of illegal smuggling of animals and birds is non-bailable.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has praised the entire team of the Forestry and Wildlife Department for this successful operation.
