Pakistan’s UAE Mission Urges Global Action on Kashmir, Alleges Gross Human Rights Violations

Pakistani diplomatic officials today called upon the international community to recognise the plight of the Kashmiri people, condemning what they described as “unabated Indian atrocities” during a Kashmir Solidarity Day event hosted at the nation’s embassy.

The gathering, organised at the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, was attended by numerous members of the Pakistani and Kashmiri expatriate communities based in the United Arab Emirates.

The event’s stated purpose was to reaffirm Pakistan’s resolute support for what it termed the ‘just and indigenous struggle’ of Kashmiris against illegal occupation and to denounce alleged human rights violations by Indian forces.

Messages from Pakistan”s President, Prime Minister, and Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister were read out to attendees, underscoring the leadership”s position on the issue.

Ms. Fozia Fayyaz Ahmad, the embassy”s Minister and Deputy Head of Mission, delivered remarks on behalf of Ambassador H.E. Shafqat Ali Khan. She paid tribute to the “valiant people” of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and commended their more than seven-decade-long campaign for self-determination.

She asserted that India”s unilateral actions in the region were illegal and that its alleged atrocities would not deter the Kashmiri populace from demanding their fundamental rights as outlined in United Nations Security Council resolutions.

Ms. Ahmad affirmed that Pakistan would persist in raising the Jammu and Kashmir issue at global forums, including the United Nations and the Human Rights Council, to draw the world”s attention to the situation.

Reiterating Pakistan”s continued diplomatic, moral, and political backing for the Kashmiri cause, she stated that the government and people of Pakistan have consistently called for the international community to play its role in resolving the dispute in line with UN resolutions and the wishes of the Kashmiris.

Representatives from the Kashmiri community also addressed the assembly, sharing their sentiments on the situation and voicing concerns over what they called “Indian brutalities against innocent civilians.” They reaffirmed their commitment to the campaign for self-determination.

The observance also featured the screening of a documentary which, according to organisers, depicted gross human rights violations being perpetrated by Indian security forces in the territory.
