Sindh Governor Muhammad Nehal Hashmi today emphasised the full and equal rights of Hindu citizens, reassuring community members with origins in Gujarat that they are an integral and respected part of the Pakistani family. The governor’s remarks came during his attendance at the Sheetla Mata festival on Friday.
The governor participated in the religious celebration, held at the Governor House Staff Colony, where his arrival was met with enthusiastic slogans of ‘Pakistan Zindabad.’ Attendees at the event conveyed their appreciation and joy at his presence.
Addressing the gathering, Governor Hashmi underscored the collective responsibility to foster respect for the religious and cultural traditions of minority communities. He articulated that spreading the message of interfaith harmony and tolerance is essential for the nation.
In a notable statement of empowerment, the governor encouraged the participants, telling them that from that day forward, they should consider themselves as ‘governors in their own right’>
The assurance of national belonging was made in direct response to community members who shared that they originally belonged to Gujarat. Governor Hashmi reiterated that they are now part of the Pakistani family, entitled to the same dignity, respect, and rights as all other citizens, and should live in peace and prosperity.
