The government today announced a major nationwide campaign, “Walk Pakistan,” designed to foster national unity and constructive youth engagement through a multi-day walk from Lahore to the capital. The initiative, revealed after a high-level meeting at the Prime Minister’s Office, also aims to provide a significant boost to local economies along its route.
The planning session, presided over by Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme, brought together a diverse group of stakeholders from governmental, semi-governmental, and service industry sectors. To ensure comprehensive coordination, a dedicated working group comprising Naveed Sherwani, Sabahat Rafique, and Kamran Lashari has been established.
A central objective of the programme is to celebrate Pakistan’s diverse cultural heritage. Organisers plan to hold cultural festivals and youth-focused events in major cities, showcasing regional identities and strengthening community bonds. The initiative is also expected to stimulate economic activity by supporting the hospitality, transportation, tourism, and small business sectors.
Spanning 14 to 18 days, the walk is scheduled to commence at Minar-e-Pakistan in Lahore and will conclude in Islamabad. Officials confirmed that comprehensive security and logistical arrangements are being put in place to ensure a seamless and safe experience for everyone involved.
Participation is open to a wide cross-section of society, with organisers encouraging involvement from all provinces, including women, students, prominent sports personalities, and media representatives. Aspiring participants will be required to register through the Digital Youth Hub platform, which will serve as the central point for coordination.
Through “Walk Pakistan,” the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme intends to galvanise the country’s young population under the principles of unity, development, and peace, highlighting their essential contribution to national progress.
