A devastating fire, allegedly exacerbated by the failure of the fire brigade to arrive, gutted a house and killed a livestock animal in the village of Anb Faqir today, leaving a family homeless.
The blaze originated from a stove inside the residence of a local tailor, Irshad Manghar, located within the jurisdiction of the Akri police station.
The fire quickly engulfed the entire property, consuming the structure of the house, furniture, trunks of belongings, and clothing. All the grain stored in the house and an unspecified amount of cash were also completely destroyed in the incident.
In addition to the financial losses, a buffalo belonging to the family also perished in the fire.
According to the victim, the emergency fire service was notified of the incident but failed to arrive at the scene. This delay allegedly allowed the fire to spread uncontrollably, resulting in the complete loss of the property.
Ultimately, local residents mobilized on their own and managed to extinguish the blaze through their collective efforts.
The affected family stated that goods worth hundreds of thousands of rupees were reduced to ashes. Now homeless, they have appealed to the Municipal Department, the Deputy Commissioner, and elected representatives for immediate assistance and relief.
