Order for crackdown against encroachments on Auqaf properties in Sindh

The Sindh Auqaf Department has been directed to take decisive action against illegal encroachments on its properties, with Provincial Minister Syed Riaz Hussain Shah Shirazi announcing a zero-tolerance policy for any irregularities within the department, warning that those responsible will face strict measures.

These directives were issued during a high-level meeting in Committee Room One of the Sindh Assembly on Tuesday. The meeting, chaired by the minister, reviewed the effective utilization of the department’s agricultural and urban assets, improvements in the tenancy system, and the status of ongoing development projects. Secretary Auqaf Akhtar Hussain Bugti and other senior departmental officials attended the meeting.

In a significant step towards financial accountability, it was decided to form a three-member committee to ensure transparency. Minister Shirazi also ordered that Auqaf properties be rented out at new rates set by the Deputy Commissioners and directed the regular submission of weekly reports on all financial and administrative matters.

Internal administrative matters were also considered during the meeting, with instructions given to expedite the process for due promotions of officers and staff. Formal approval was also given for the reconstruction of the dilapidated boundary wall of the Manghopir shrine.

Mr. Shirazi instructed the present officers and staff to ensure strict monitoring of all development projects and repair works. He further directed that basic facilities be provided to visitors at shrines and dargahs across the province.

The provincial minister expressed his commitment to utilizing these valuable provincial assets for the public interest, stating that Auqaf properties are a significant resource for Sindh and their effective use can further promote public welfare initiatives.
