Significant reshuffle made at the pinnacle of the ICC Women’s T20I Player Rankings

A significant reshuffle has occurred at the pinnacle of the ICC Women’s T20I Player Rankings, with Australia’s Georgia Voll and New Zealand’s Amelia Kerr crowned the new number one batter and all-rounder respectively, less than three months before the T20 World Cup.

Voll’s ascent comes after a spectacular, quickfire century against the West Indies, vaulting her eight places to unseat compatriot Beth Mooney from the top spot for T20I batters, a position Mooney had held since January 2024.

The 22-year-old opener’s innings of 101 from just 53 balls in St Vincent also made her the fourth-youngest woman to score a century in both T20I and ODI formats.

New Zealand skipper Kerr’s rise to the premier all-rounder position was fuelled by a commanding series against South Africa, where she accumulated 276 runs and took five wickets, displacing West Indies star Hayley Matthews who had been number one since October 2023.

In addition to her all-rounder accolade, Kerr also climbed three spots to tenth on the T20I bowlers” list, which continues to be led by Pakistan spinner Sadia Iqbal ahead of the upcoming T20 World Cup in England and Wales.

The alterations extended to the ODI format, where England’s Sophie Ecclestone reclaimed her status as the premier 50-over bowler, overtaking Australia’s Alana King.

Despite not playing last week, Ecclestone returned to the top as King lost valuable rating points during Australia”s ODI series against the West Indies, causing the Australian to drop to second place.

Further movements inside the top 10 of the ODI bowler rankings saw Matthews advance two places to fourth and Kerr move up two spots to ninth, while Australia”s Phoebe Litchfield gained one position to reach fifth on the ODI batters” list.
