KATI Calls for Government-Business Consultation Amid Energy Crisis Concerns

Karachi: The Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI) has urged the Pakistani government to involve the business community in discussions about energy conservation measures and the possibility of a lockdown, amid growing regional tensions and an energy crisis. Muhammad Ikram Rajput, KATI's president, warned that escalating conflicts in the Gulf region could disrupt oil and gas supplies, impacting the global and local economies.

According to Korangi Association of Trade and Industry, Rajput highlighted the potential economic risks posed by the situation, emphasizing the impact on petroleum prices and industrial costs. He noted that Pakistan's economy and export sector could face significant pressure if regional conflicts expand. Rajput praised Pakistan's diplomatic efforts to ease tensions between the United States and Iran and called for further international dialogue to avoid conflict. He also appreciated Iran's cooperation in allowing Pakistani vessels access through the Strait of Hormuz, urging preparations for any potential energy shortages.

Rajput underscored the importance of peace and stability for economic growth and expressed hope that diplomatic initiatives would prevent a regional crisis. He called on the international community to work towards sustainable peace through negotiations, reflecting the business community's strong desire for a secure environment conducive to economic development.
