Awareness Walk Held from Malaria Office to Chandia Mor on World Malaria Day in Khairpur

On the occasion of World Malaria Day, health officials in Khairpur today highlighted the importance of public cooperation and prompt medical attention to effectively combat malaria and work towards a disease-free community.

District Health Officer (DHO), Dr. Kaleemullah Sheikh, led an awareness walk from the local Malaria Office to Chandia Mor. This initiative saw active participation from medical experts and health department staff, including Dr. Tabish Phul, Dr. Abdul Haq Metlo, Dr. Shahid Hussain Khaskheli, Dr. Fayyaz Hussain Mallah, and Maqbool Hussain Akro.

During the event, Dr. Sheikh highlighted malaria as a mosquito-borne disease, emphasizing that it can be entirely prevented through precautions and public awareness. He stated that World Malaria Day is observed to educate citizens on maintaining a clean environment and adopting preventive measures against mosquito breeding.

Key preventive strategies included eliminating stagnant water sources in homes, streets, and neighborhoods, consistent use of insecticide-treated mosquito nets, and wearing protective clothing at night. He noted that the Health Department is actively undertaking various educational initiatives to disseminate these crucial messages.

Dr. Sheikh further added that individuals experiencing symptoms such as fever, chills, or muscle aches should immediately visit the nearest medical facility. He affirmed that early detection and appropriate treatment are paramount in managing the disease.

He appealed to the community to cooperate with health officials to join collective efforts in establishing a malaria-free society. Dr. Sheikh confirmed the Health Department’s vigorous efforts towards eradicating the disease, emphasizing that public cooperation is indispensable for its control and mitigation.

Reiterating the importance of timely diagnosis and treatment in reducing the impact of malaria, he advised anyone showing symptoms to consult the nearest health center without delay. The awareness campaign garnered significant attendance, including over 30 Malaria Supervisors, Lady Health Supervisors, Lady Health Workers, and various employees of the Health Department, such as Mir Imtiaz Ali, Noor Nabi Ajan, Qaim Ali Shar, Ghulam Qadir Mallah, Ameer Ali Junejo, and Maqbool Hussain.
