Student Societies Crucial for Holistic Growth, States Punjab University VC

Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Ali today underscored the pivotal role of student societies in cultivating students’ knowledge, confidence, professional competencies, and a positive outlook. His remarks were made during the inaugural ceremony of a three-day All Pakistan Media Fest, an initiative by the Pioneer Media Society and the Department of Student Affairs.

The festival commenced at Faisal Auditorium, attended by German Ambassador to Pakistan H.E. Ms. Ina Lepel, alongside Registrar Dr Ahmad Islam, DG SES Prof Dr Rehan Sadiq Shaikh, Director Student Affairs Dr Shahzeb Khan, Director Institute of Education Research Prof Dr Abdul Qayyum Chaudhry, Chairperson Department of Archaeology Dr Ifqat Mahar, faculty members, and students.

During his address, Professor Dr Muhammad Ali reiterated the necessity of organising co-curricular activities alongside academic education within universities. He announced that the three-day media gathering would feature a diverse array of student programmes, including musical performances, mushaira, panel discussions, and various contests.

The Vice Chancellor commended Dr Shahzeb Khan, Director of Student Affairs, for his leadership, noting that the performance of student organisations under his guidance was enhancing the university”s global standing. He further acknowledged the student society”s successful efforts in securing funding for the large-scale undertaking.

More than 350 students from higher education institutions across Pakistan are slated to partake in 13 competitive events during the three-day All Pakistan Media Fest. This platform aims to provide participants with an occasion to demonstrate their abilities, innovation, and media proficiency.

The programme of key activities encompasses Sufi performances, a panel discussion, a dinner, a Sufi night, documentary and short film screenings, in addition to other media-related engagements. These offerings are designed to provide students with learning and networking experiences.
