Director of Rotary International Jennifer Scott met with Governor of Sindh, discussed health, education, clean water, community development

At the Governor House, Governor of Sindh Syed Muhammad Nihal Hashmi met today with Rotary International Director Jennifer Scott and held a comprehensive discussion on public welfare and regional stability, emphasizing the Indus Waters Treaty. Governor Hashmi highlighted the critical nature of water disputes and termed unilateral actions by neighboring countries as a violation of regional peace and international law.

Governor Hashmi highlighted the indispensable role of the Indus Waters Treaty and expressed concern over the dangers posed by using water as a political weapon. He appealed to the international community to ensure full implementation of the treaty and for all parties to adhere to international commitments.

Governor Hashmi reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to peaceful negotiations, mutual respect, and coexistence. He praised the ongoing efforts of national leadership for regional peace and stated that Pakistan’s actions are being appreciated globally.

The meeting also included a detailed presentation on Rotary International’s projects for peace promotion, access to clean water, health, education, and community development. Governor Hashmi acknowledged the significant role of social organizations like Rotary International in promoting social harmony and welfare.

He acknowledged their key role in humanitarian service and social development and committed to continuing government support for such organizations. The governor emphasized the importance of cooperation between government institutions and social organizations to expand the reach of public welfare initiatives, so that a larger population can benefit.
