In view of increasing autism cases in Jhang, an autism center should be established: Parents’ appeal to Chief Minister Punjab

In view of the increasing number of diagnosed autism cases in Jhang, parents of children suffering from the complex neurological disorder like autism have made an urgent appeal today, highlighting the dire need for a dedicated autism center in the district. These parents have appealed to the Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, to address this critical issue immediately.

Currently, families in Jhang are facing severe difficulties due to the lack of adequate facilities for the diagnosis and treatment of complex neurological diseases like autism. The absence of local resources forces parents to travel to distant cities for expensive treatments, increasing their financial and emotional burden.

Medical experts have emphasized that autism affects a child’s communication abilities, social interactions, and learning process, requiring special attention and trained staff. Establishing a center in Jhang would provide essential services such as screening, speech and behavioral therapy, and specialized education in one place.

Local community leaders, including political, social, and journalistic representatives, have appealed for immediate government intervention. They urge the provincial health authorities of Punjab and local administrative bodies to prioritize the construction of a state-of-the-art autism facility.

Additionally, welfare institutions and charitable organizations are also urged to contribute to this cause, so that affected children can receive the necessary support within their community.

This situation highlights the global increase in autism cases and the need for proactive measures in areas like Jhang, where development has stalled. Without timely action, the future may become more challenging for these children and their families.
