In a significant development, a notorious dacoit involved in 48 criminal cases was killed today during a police encounter at Thana Sadar Depalpur. His three accomplices managed to escape.
The encounter took place near Chak Mahal Musa Khan, where four armed dacoits were caught stealing transformer wires at a local tube well. Acting on a tip-off, law enforcement agencies immediately surrounded the area.
When the police attempted to arrest the suspects, the dacoits opened indiscriminate fire. During this, one dacoit, identified as Amanat Ali, son of Allah Ditta, a resident of Shobha Ram Depalpur, was killed by his own gang’s bullet.
Amanat Ali was a wanted criminal, linked to multiple serious crimes, including murder, theft, and robbery. Following the incident, his body was taken into police custody and moved to DHQ South City Hospital Okara for a post-mortem.
Authorities have launched a comprehensive search operation to capture the remaining fugitive suspects, intensifying efforts to restore public safety in the area.
