In a significant development, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has issued orders to freeze vast lands associated with Bahria Town Karachi, a renowned real estate organization, following allegations of illegal occupation and embezzlement of government properties.
NAB Karachi’s Director General instructed the Deputy Commissioner of Jamshoro and law enforcement officers, as well as the Conservator of the Sindh Forest Department, to reclaim land in Deh Mole, Taluka Thana Bula Khan, and Bahria Town 2, District Jamshoro. This decisive action reflects NAB’s ongoing investigations against alleged fraudulent activities in the real estate sector.
Simultaneously, another freezing order led to the sealing of Ali Villa by the Deputy Commissioner of District Malir. This magnificent mansion, built for Malik Riaz Hussain and named after his son Ali Riaz Malik, is located in Bahria Hills and spans 67 acres. The villa boasts magnificent facilities, including a helipad and a mini-zoo, showcasing its grandeur.
Further investigations resulted in the freezing of 1,338 acres of land, allegedly under the illegal possession of Bahria Town Karachi. This property was designated for the development of Bahria Greens and various precincts, despite being legally owned by the Sindh government.
Additionally, NAB imposed a freezing order on the entire 3,150 acres of land of Bahria Town 2, accused of fraudulent occupation. This move is part of NAB’s broader strategy to prevent the establishment of third-party rights on disputed properties.
Earlier, NAB had filed Reference No. 1/2025 in the Accountability Court Karachi, involving allegations of illegal conversion and embezzlement of 17,672 acres of government land in District Malir, with an estimated value of 708 billion rupees. These allegations suggested collusion with certain Sindh government officers, leading to the construction of Bahria Town Karachi near the M-9 Motorway in violation of legal provisions.
NAB’s recent actions reflect its commitment to addressing corruption in Pakistan’s real estate sector and enforcing accountability.
