Pakistan’s steadfast commitment to international peacekeeping efforts was acknowledged during a grand ceremony held at the United Nations today, with Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmed representing the nation at a ceremony to commemorate the International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers.
The commemoration ceremony paid tribute to the bravery, dedication and undying sacrifices of peacekeepers around the world. In a poignant moment, 68 fallen peacekeepers were posthumously awarded the Dag Hammarskjöld Medal, recognizing their invaluable contribution to world peace.
The occasion also featured the presentation of the Captain Mbaye Diagne Medal for Exceptional Courage, underscoring the extraordinary bravery displayed by individuals in the line of duty.
UN Secretary-General António Guterres led the proceedings, bestowing the awards and guiding attendees in a minute of silence. This gesture served as a powerful tribute to those who have laid down their lives in pursuit of peace.
