A clash occurred today in Thatta when police engaged with residents resisting eviction from land on court orders, resulting in injuries to both law enforcers and locals.
The conflict began when a large police force, along with revenue department officials, arrived for land reclamation at Arab Solangi village near Gharo Bari Road. The court-ordered operation faced strong resistance from residents who have been residing in the area for four decades and claim injustice.
The clash escalated when local men and women blocked the Thatta-Sujawal-Gharo Bari Road for several hours. They set up barricades, burned tires, and protested vehemently against the authorities.
Police efforts to disperse the protesters included aerial firing and the use of tear gas. Despite these measures, residents held their ground and prevented police from entering the area for five hours.
In the clash, Station House Officer Mazhar Kango and two other officers, as well as three residents, were severely injured.
