Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has expressed its concern over the recent change in the electoral schedule of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, emphasizing that such administrative changes cannot influence public opinion, as stated by the central secretary-general of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Muhammad Humayun Khan, in a statement today.
Khan said that the decision of the people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir will ultimately be manifested through their votes, highlighting the party’s commitment to public service and ideological principles. He pointed out that the trust placed by the public in the PPP is the party’s fundamental strength.
He suggested that the revised election schedule might create a sense of political unease among opponents. However, he emphasized that these changes are unlikely to affect the decisions of the public. Khan stated that under the leadership of Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and a vigorous campaign, the PPP has gained significant momentum.
He further added that the citizens of Azad Kashmir recognize the PPP’s arrow symbol as a representation of development, stability, and effective public representation. Khan reiterated the party’s long-standing, principled stance on the Kashmir issue, which aligns with the right to self-determination of the Kashmiri people.
Khan advocated for a sustainable solution to the Kashmir conflict that respects the United Nations resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people. He appealed to all political elements to demonstrate responsibility and unity on national issues, particularly sensitive matters like Kashmir.
In his concluding remarks, Khan reiterated the PPP’s commitment to supporting the democratic, political, and diplomatic rights of Kashmiris at all levels. He emphasized that only transparent, free, and impartial elections can truly respect the public mandate and ensure democratic success. Khan expressed confidence that the people of Azad Kashmir will vote in favor of the PPP, allowing their symbol, the arrow, to emerge victorious.
