Modern training essential for effective policing: minister

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Thursday said that modern, technology-driven training is essential for effective policing as he visited the National Police Academy and reviewed ongoing upgradation projects.

During the visit, Naqvi inspected the under-construction hostel facility and examined a model room. He directed authorities to accelerate work on the project and ensure its timely completion, according to officials.

He also met trainee Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) and discussed professional training standards, urging them to adopt modern policing techniques and treat citizens with courtesy while ensuring swift resolution of public grievances.

Naqvi said that ASP trainees were the future leadership of the police force and expressed confidence in their professional abilities. He added that the government considered high-quality training and upgraded facilities a key priority.

The minister further announced that the first batch of elite-level training would be introduced shortly, stressing that policing must evolve in line with modern operational and technological requirements.

According to officials, Naqvi also reviewed ongoing development initiatives aimed at upgrading training and residential infrastructure at the academy to international standards.

Senior officials, including the commandant of the National Police Academy, the Director General of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), the Director General of the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), the Islamabad police chief, and other senior officers, accompanied the interior minister during the visit.
