The resupply of Russian foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) vaccine to Pakistan has brought significant relief to the country’s livestock industry, which has been suffering from the devastating effects of the disease for years.
Foot-and-mouth disease has affected millions of livestock across Pakistan, severely impacting their productivity and the country’s export potential. In the last three years, nearly 2,100 cases have been documented, highlighting the urgent need for effective preventive measures.
With the intervention of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), the vaccine supply issue has been successfully addressed. This development is expected to restore confidence among livestock farmers and enhance the overall disease prevention framework in the nation.
Denis A. Nevzorov, the Russian Trade Representative, commended the SIFC for its crucial role in ensuring coordinated efforts among all pertinent agencies, paving the way for this vital resolution.
