Sindh Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar on Wednesday took notice of the rape and murder of a minor girl in Malir and directed police authorities to expedite the investigation and ensure the immediate arrest of those responsible.
The minister instructed SSP Malir to submit a comprehensive report on the incident and keep the provincial government informed about progress in the case, including efforts to identify and apprehend the suspects.
Describing the incident as extremely tragic and unbearable, Lanjar said those involved would not be allowed to evade justice and would be brought to account under the law.
He directed investigators to make full use of modern forensic techniques and evidence during the probe and ordered the formation of special teams to trace and arrest the perpetrators at the earliest.
The home minister further instructed police officials to monitor the investigation on a daily basis and provide regular updates on developments in the case.
Lanjar said the victim’s family should be provided complete legal assistance and warned that any attempt to harass or pressure the family would not be tolerated.
He termed criminals involved in offences against children as among the worst offenders in society and stressed that the accused should receive the maximum punishment prescribed by law.
The minister said the Sindh government shared the grief of the bereaved family and would utilize all available resources to ensure that justice was delivered promptly and effectively.
