Hot and humid weather expected nationwide, possibility of thunderstorms and rain in Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan

The Meteorological Department today issued a forecast that large parts of the country will remain engulfed in extremely hot and humid weather. The area will face extreme heat, with some places possibly getting relief through storms and rain.

In specific areas like Kashmir, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, northeastern Punjab, eastern Balochistan, and Gilgit-Baltistan, there is a possibility of strong winds and thunderstorms with rain.

This morning, the temperature of major cities indicates a heatwave, with Islamabad recording 25 degrees Celsius, Lahore 28 degrees Celsius, and Karachi 29 degrees Celsius. Peshawar’s temperature reached 26 degrees Celsius, while in Quetta, a relatively lower 24 degrees Celsius was recorded. In mountainous areas, 22 degrees Celsius was recorded in Gilgit and Muzaffarabad, and 17 degrees Celsius in Murree.

According to the weather forecast for India’s illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, general dry conditions with partly cloudy skies will prevail in Srinagar, Jammu, Leh, Pulwama, Anantnag, Shopian, and Baramulla. Morning temperatures in these areas ranged from Leh’s cold 8 degrees Celsius to Jammu’s warm 27 degrees Celsius, with around 20 degrees Celsius in Srinagar, Anantnag, Pulwama, and Shopian, and 21 degrees Celsius in Baramulla.

Citizens are advised to keep themselves hydrated and take necessary precautions against the heat, while staying informed about sudden weather changes in areas expecting storms.
