A protest rally will be held on Thursday against the shortage of agricultural and drinking water in Naseerabad, as the local community expresses concern over the severe scarcity of agricultural and drinking water. This demonstration, organized by the Naseerabad Citizens Alliance, allegedly highlights concerns about possible interference by police and SEPCO officials in the theft of electrical wires, which could further exacerbate the water crisis.
The Citizens Alliance, which includes Singer Nonari, Khuda Bakhsh Singhro, Zameer Maghiri, Zahid Hussain Tainyo, Ghulam Mustafa Kalhoro, Yaseen Phulpoto, and Jabbar Azad Mangi, convened a meeting today to consider the issue of severe water scarcity. They specifically demanded immediate accountability and transparency in the recovery of stolen electrical wires, which are crucial for maintaining the area’s water supply.
In response to the grave situation, the Citizens Alliance has devised a series of actions. The protest rally aims to mobilize local farmers as well as residents, urging them to demand urgent action to address the water shortage.
Furthermore, the alliance has planned to engage in a meeting with the Assistant Commissioner as well as trade organizations to address the issue of encroachments, which may potentially contribute to the crisis. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to ensure improved governance and equitable distribution of resources.
Looking ahead, the Citizens Alliance has scheduled a General Council meeting on Friday, 10th July, to discuss proposed constitutional amendments. This session will also focus on launching a campaign to examine the town administration’s budget and fund distribution, ensuring they are effectively utilized for the community’s benefit.
The upcoming protest highlights the community’s growing frustration and their determination to find a solution to the water scarcity that is threatening their livelihoods and daily lives.
