Dr. Fahmida Laghari Alleged Suicide Case Hearing, Statements of Father and Sister Recorded

The hearing of the case related to the alleged suicide and harassment of medical student Dr. Fahmida Laghari took place today. This proceeding was held in Mirpurkhas Judicial Magistrate and Family Court, where important statements from the deceased’s family were recorded under Section 164.

The hearing included Abid Laghari, who is in custody, along with other individuals who are released on bail, among them are a university’s Vice-Chancellor Professor Zafar Tanveer and medical experts Dr. Farzana, Abdul Rehman, and Abdullah. These individuals are involved in the ongoing investigation.

During the session, the court recorded the statements of Dr. Fahmida’s father and sister, Mehak Laghari. Speaking to the media outside the court, Mehak expressed her family’s desire for justice and emphasized the need for a complete and transparent investigation. She highlighted the importance of holding all responsible individuals accountable, expecting impartiality from the judiciary and investigative bodies.

Investigating officer Kamran Halipoto requested an extension to submit the investigation report on technical grounds, which the court accepted, and further proceedings were adjourned till July 8. This case remains a focal point of attention, with both the family and the public seeking a justice-based resolution.
