Sindh Governor Syed Muhammad Nehal Hashmi said today that, following the success of Marka-e-Haq, the entire nation must now unite to win Marka-e-Ma’ashiyat.
He said that Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and the Field Marshal had played their roles in safeguarding national security and stability, and that it was now the responsibility of the business community to take the lead in strengthening Pakistan’s economy.
Hashmi expressed these views while addressing a ceremony organized by the Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI). KATI President, former President Khalid Tawab, SM Tanveer, Zubair Tufail, Zubair Chhaya, and other prominent industrialists were also present on the occasion.
He said that nations progress through vision, continuity, connectivity, and strong infrastructure. He observed that during the tenure of former Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, major development projects-including motorways, airports, power plants, dams, solar parks, and industrial zones-had been initiated, but the continuity of those policies had not been maintained. He emphasized that consistency and continuity in national policies were essential for sustainable development.
The governor urged industrialists to think beyond their own businesses and work for the collective progress of Pakistan. He said that the time had come not for complaints but for determination, hard work, and practical action.
He said that he wanted to see Pakistani industrialists emerge as globally successful entrepreneurs and dollar billionaires because, when industrialists prosper, Pakistan prospers.
Hashmi said that the Federal Government had allocated Rs5 billion for improving infrastructure in the SITE industrial areas. However, during his visits to the SITE industrial area, he observed issues related to cleanliness and encroachments outside several industrial units. He stressed that, alongside government efforts, industrialists must also take responsibility for improving cleanliness, discipline, and the overall environment of industrial areas.
The governor said that Pakistan’s youth possessed extraordinary potential and that providing them with employment and growth opportunities was a shared national responsibility. He informed the participants that he had requested Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif to convene a meeting of the Federal Cabinet in Karachi so that, after the meeting, the relevant federal secretaries could hold direct discussions with industrialists and take prompt measures to address their concerns.
Hashmi urged industrialists to play an active role in politics and public policymaking to ensure effective representation of the private sector. He said that the doors of the Governor House would always remain open for the business community.
Later, the KATI President briefed the participants on the Association’s activities and the issues relating to the industrial area. Khalid Tawab, Zubair Tufail, Zubair Chhaya, and SM Tanveer also addressed the gathering and shared their views on industrial challenges, exports, investment, energy, infrastructure, and the role of the business community in achieving Marka-e-Ma’ashiyat.
Concluding his address, Hashmi urged the participants to work together to make Pakistan economically strong, prosperous, and developed, saying, “This is our Pakistan. Let us work together to make it economically strong, prosperous and developed.”
