The Consul General of Malaysia in Karachi, Herman Hardynata Ahmed, called on the Speaker of the Provincial Assembly of Sindh, Syed Awais Qadir Shah, at his office on Thursday for a farewell visit upon the completion of his three-year diplomatic tenure in Pakistan.

During the meeting, Herman informed Speaker Syed Awais Qadir Shah that, after completing his diplomatic responsibilities in Karachi, he would assume his new assignment in Putrajaya, the federal administrative capital of Malaysia, where he would serve for the next three years.
The meeting focused on matters of mutual interest, including Pakistan-Malaysia relations, diplomatic cooperation, economic development, regional peace, people-to-people contacts, and other areas of shared interest.
Awais recalled his various visits to Malaysia and shared his positive impressions of several Malaysian cities.
The Consul General briefed the Speaker on the development of Putrajaya and explained that the modern city had been developed during the tenure of former Prime Minister Dr. Mahathir Mohamad under a strong public-private partnership model.
Both dignitaries also exchanged views on urban development, infrastructure planning, public service delivery, civic facilities, and water and other public service systems in Pakistan and Malaysia.
The Consul General said that Malaysia had become a major hub for global manufacturing companies due to its investment-friendly environment and competitive production costs. He also informed the Speaker about a major data centre investment project currently underway in the country.
Matters relating to Malaysia’s regional borders, diplomatic appointments, and the role of diplomats in friendly and neighbouring countries were also discussed during the meeting.
Herman Hardynata Ahmed appreciated Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts to promote regional and global peace and said that the country’s role in mediation and de-escalation during recent tensions had been commendable.
Awaissaid Pakistan had always remained a peace-loving nation and that its political and military leadership had demonstrated through practical actions that the country was a strong advocate and ambassador of peace.
The Speaker further said that Pakistan’s positive diplomatic efforts had played an important role in preventing a wider conflict and promoting regional and global stability.
Both sides agreed that war and instability were not in the interest of global peace and economic development. They also emphasized that the Strait of Hormuz must remain open to ensure uninterrupted global trade and economic stability.
Herman thanked Speaker Syed Awais Qadir Shah for his cooperation, guidance, and support throughout his tenure in Karachi.
Awais also appreciated the Consul General’s services and particularly acknowledged his valuable support during the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Conference in ensuring effective coordination with speakers and delegates from Malaysia.
The Speaker also extended his best wishes to Herman for success in his new diplomatic responsibilities in Malaysia.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Consul General of Malaysia presented Awais with Malaysia’s traditional cultural headgear, the Tanjak, as a souvenir.
On the occasion, Awais presented the Consul General with the Legacy Shield of the Provincial Assembly of Sindh, a traditional Sindhi cap, an Ajrak, and books on the history of Sindh and the Provincial Assembly of Sindh.
