A large quantity of Indian Gutkha seized in anti-drug smuggling campaign in Mirpur Khas

In a major operation to curb illegal drug smuggling, law enforcement authorities in Mirpur Khas arrested three individuals and seized a large consignment of Indian Gutkha.

This operation was carried out on the instructions of SSP Syed Fida Hussain Shah by officers Iqbal Jatt and Danish Ahmed Bhatti, targeting the Anwarabad area within the jurisdiction of the Digri police station. Acting on a tip-off, the police successfully intercepted an Alto car carrying the prohibited goods.

The accused, identified as Waqar Malik, Danish Malik, and Ghulam Qadir Chandio, were detained with 11,000 Gutkha, while their accomplice Sajjad Haider alias Nomi Arian managed to evade arrest.

Authorities have registered case number 69/2026 under sections 4/8 of the Gutkha Prohibition Act, indicating ongoing investigations into the suspects’ alleged involvement in a complex smuggling network.

This operation highlights the ongoing efforts of Mirpur Khas law enforcement agencies to dismantle networks distributing harmful substances, particularly to protect the youth from the adverse effects of such illegal activities.
