Academics Infuse Real-World Industrial Expertise Into University Curriculum

Educators from the University of Central Punjab are translating direct industrial experience into enhanced academic curricula after completing placements in the nation”s key pharmaceutical and energy sectors, aiming to close the persistent gap between theoretical knowledge and practical workplace demands.

According to a university statement today, the insights were presented during a post-placement debriefing session organized by the institution”s Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC). The meeting, part of the Faculty Industry Placement Program (FIPP), served as a platform for faculty to report on their contributions and learnings from recent engagements with commercial enterprises.

Representing the Faculty of Pharmacy, Ms. Rabia Saleem and Dr. Ayesha Asif detailed their tenure at Masood Homoeopathic Pharmaceuticals. Their work involved critical areas such as verifying the authenticity of herbal ingredients, ensuring microbial safety standards, and overseeing production and quality management systems, while integrating Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) into their approach.

From the Faculty of Engineering, Engr. Waqar Maqsood recounted his time at Vital Petroleum Ltd., where his responsibilities included contributing to the construction of petroleum facilities, designing essential retaining walls, and implementing industrial safety engineering protocols.

The initiative underscores a strategic effort by the university to enrich course delivery and bolster applied research. The program is designed to foster robust collaborations that directly align academic instruction with contemporary industry practices through innovation and hands-on learning.
