Pakistan is pinning its hopes on a major football revival as the government declares Asian Football Confederation (AFC) President Sheikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa a ‘State Guest’ ahead of a strategically significant visit aimed at revitalizing the sport in the country.

The high-profile engagement, scheduled from November 4 to 7, will see Sheikh Salman, who is also the Senior Vice President of FIFA and a member of the Royal Family of Bahrain, arrive in Pakistan. He will be accompanied by a delegation of senior AFC officials and representatives from the regional football community.

During his four-day stay, the AFC President is slated to hold crucial meetings with senior civil and military leadership. Discussions with Senator Rana Sanaullah Khan, Advisor to the Prime Minister on Inter-Provincial Coordination and Political Affairs, will be a key part of the agenda.

Talks are expected to concentrate on fostering football infrastructure development, increasing youth participation in sports, and establishing collaborative projects designed to breathe new life into Pakistan’s sports sector, with a particular focus on football.

Senator Rana Sanaullah Khan welcomed the upcoming tour, expressing optimism about its potential impact. ‘We are confident that this historic visit will mark the beginning of a new era of football development in Pakistan,’ he stated, highlighting its role in promoting sports diplomacy, youth empowerment, and strengthening regional cooperation between Pakistan, Bahrain, and other Asian nations.
