Pakistan has demanded Afghan authorities to take decisive and sustainable actions against terrorism, as several Afghan citizens have been found involved in terrorist incidents within Pakistan’s borders.
Focusing on Afghanistan at the recent United Nations Security Council meeting, Pakistan’s permanent representative Asim Iftikhar Ahmed emphasized the immediate need for action today. He stressed that Afghanistan must take verifiable measures to stop cross-border terrorism.
Ahmed reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to protecting its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national security. He emphasized that Pakistan reserves the right to defend itself in response to threats according to international law.
This demand for action comes amid ongoing concerns about regional security, with Pakistan seeking assurance that its neighbor will actively work to dismantle terrorist networks operating from its territory. The ambassador’s statements reflect a persistent challenge in bilateral relations, as both countries strive to address security concerns and promote stability in the region.
