Azad Jammu and Kashmir President Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry today hailed the success of Operation “Bunyan Marsous” as a reflection of national honor and the sacrifices of martyrs.
He underscored the importance of trilateral talks involving Pakistan, India, and the Kashmiri populace to address the Kashmir dispute effectively. During a reception in Mirpur, where a day of gratitude was announced to mark the operation’s success, President Chaudhry highlighted the new ceasefire between Pakistan and India as a step towards regional peace. However, he pointed out that lasting peace hinges on resolving the Kashmir issue.
He welcomed U.S. President Donald Trump’s mediation offer, describing it as a positive development that brings international focus to the matter. He argued that Kashmir remains a human rights concern that necessitates global awareness and resolution.
In addition to political matters, President Chaudhry touched on developmental projects in Mirpur, such as the Rathua Hariyam Bridge and a new parking plaza. He revealed ongoing efforts towards establishing an international airport in Mirpur, with work on its feasibility report underway.
