Authorities in Okara launched a major anti-polio campaign on Sunday, with an immediate focus on vaccinating children in flood-affected areas, slums, and nomadic settlements. The aim of this major public health initiative is to vaccinate 652,255 children under the age of five across the district.
The campaign was formally inaugurated at a ceremony at DHQ City Hospital. Additional Deputy Commissioner Revenue Muhammad Shujaeen Vistro and CEO Health Dr. Fawad Iftikhar initiated the effort by administering polio drops to children. MS DHQ City Hospital Muhammad Saqib Vattoo, other officers, and medical staff were also present on the occasion.
To achieve this comprehensive coverage, 2,771 vaccination teams have been formed. On the directives of Deputy Commissioner Ahmed Usman Javed, 437 area in-charges from the health department and district administration have been assigned monitoring duties to oversee the operation.
