Army resources be used for Balochistan flood rescue, relief: COAS Bajwa

RAWALPINDI: The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa called the Commander Balochistan Corps to get an update on the flood situation and him to undertake all measures to assist the Balochistan government for rescue, relief and rehabilitation efforts on emergency basis in coordination with the civil administration.

According to an Inter Services Public Relations information on Saturday, the COAS said: “Unprecedented rains have caused devastation to human life and communication infrastructure especially in Balochistan. Army resources be utilized to help affected population and restore critical communication infrastructure as immediate temporary measure,” the COAS directed.

“Pakistan Army stands with flood affected population in this difficult testing time and shall undertake this assistance effort as national obligation,” he said. Separately, a one-day free medical camp was organized by the Pakistan Army in the flood-affected Gour Jiglot area of Gilgit in which patients were provided with free treatment facilities. A team of expert doctors of an Army Medical Corps was specially deployed in the medical camp.

Besides, relief packages were distributed among the flood victims by the Kashmir Orphans Relief Trust (KORT) under the aegis of Pakistan Army. On this occasion, representatives of Kashmir Orphans Relief Trust were present along with volunteers. The flood affected people thanked the Pakistan Army for organizing the medical camp.
