Arrest of Ghulam Ahmed Gulzar, Molvi Bashir denounced

Srinagar, December 23, 2020 (PPI-OT): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Hurriyat leader, Firdous Ahmed Shah and Tehreek-e-Wahdat-e-Islami have strongly condemned the arrest of APHC leaders Ghulam Ahmed Gulzar and Molvi Bashir Ahmed.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Firdous Ahmed Shah in a statement issued in Srinagar said that the arrest of Kashmiri political leaders reflected the undemocratic approach of the Indian authorities. He said at a time when most of the leaders are already behind the bars, the Modi regime is attempting to further muzzle the voice of the people of IIOJK.

Firdous Shah demanded immediate and unconditional release of all illegally detained Kashmiris including Hurriyat leaders and activists languishing in different jails of the occupied territory and India.

Tehreek-e-Wahdat-e-Islami in a statement issued in Srinagar while condemning the arrest of dozens of Kashmiris including APHC working vice chairman Ghulam Ahmad Gulzar and general secretary Molvi Bashir Ahmad Irfani by Indian troops said that killings and illegal arrests cannot force the Kashmiris to give up their truth-based struggle.

A TWI spokesman said that thousands of Kashmiris have already been illegally detained in Indian jails and the fascist Modi government wanted to completely sideline the Kashmiris through extreme tactics of oppression. The statement said that the BJP government should remember that the spirit of freedom could not be suppressed through oppression and India would have to leave Kashmir one day.

Meanwhile, APHC-AJK leader and Vice Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir People’s Movement, Abdul Majeed Malik, in a statement issued in Islamabad also strongly denounced the arrest of Ghulam Ahmad Gulzar and Molvi Bashir Ahmed by Indian police in Srinagar. He said India has turned IIOJK into the largest open-air prison of the world where all basic rights of the people have been snatched.
