Arrest of Muslim traders in Jammu condemned

Jammu, July 04, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Peer Panchal Peace Foundation, Muhammad Hanif Kalaas, has strongly condemned the arrest of four Muslim traders by communal Indian police after labeling them as cattle smugglers in Jammu region.

The communal Indian police arrested four Muslim traders after labeling them as cattle smugglers in Rajouri and Poonch areas of Jammu region. The police also took around four dozen cattle into its possession. Muhammad Hanif Kalaas in a statement issued in Jammu said it is a routine matter that the Indian police and army personnel are harassing and victimising the Muslims of the region without any justification.

He deplored that the Muslim cattle traders are not only attacked by cow vigilante but also intimidated and arrested by communal Indian police and army in Jammu when they transport cattle from one place to another for trade. He warned the Indian authorities if they continued their ill-treatment with the Muslims of Jammu, then they themselves would be responsible for any untoward situation. He also demanded release of the arrested Muslim traders and return of their cattle to them.
