Extension of President’s rule in IOK can’t stop freedom struggle

Brussels, July 04, 2019 (PPI-OT): The Chairman of Kashmir Council Europe (KCEU), Ali Raza Syed, has said that extension of President’s rule by Indian government in occupied Kashmir cannot stop the Kashmiri people from carrying forward their ongoing freedom movement.

Ali Raza Syed in a statement issued in Brussels, condemning the move said that imposition of President’s Rule or Governor Rule or holding of sham elections for the so-called Kashmir Assembly by India in occupied Kashmir was not a solution of the Kashmir dispute. There should be a plebiscite under the supervision of the United Nations in Jammu and Kashmir to allow the Kashmiri people decide the logical political fate of the territory, he said.

The KCEU Chairman said all of the Indian political tricks and dishonest practices in Kashmir under its Constitution are unacceptable to the Kashmiris. “Kashmiri people are struggling for their right to self-determination but India wants to show that Kashmir is also its integral part. Kashmir is a disputed territory and the people of Kashmir just want freedom from Indian occupation,” he added.

Appreciating last year’s UN report on human rights in occupied Kashmir, Ali Raza Syed said another report of the international body would be published soon and many other international human rights organizations also highlighted the grave human rights violations being perpetrated by Indian troops in occupied Kashmir.

He called upon the international community to take serious note of the prevailing grim situation of human rights in the occupied territory. It is time that the international community should put pressure on India to stop human rights abuses in Kashmir, he added.

The KCEU Chairman also emphasized that the Kashmiri people would continue their struggle for freedom from Indian rule. India has forcibly occupied the territory of Jammu and Kashmir but the Kashmiri people would continue the struggle for securing their right to self-determination against all odds.
